Last week I dug out my $5 roomba irobot and reconnected it to my motor shield. Using an xbee I made it wireless and really wanted to mount the Kinect to it and see some 3-d mapping goodness. Here is a picture of the results. I will post a video of the 3d view while the robot is in action.
What I would like to do in the future is attach a computer and router to it to make it wireless. Right now there is still a USB cable of the Kinect dragging on behind it. I would like to create a program that will let me map the data from the Kinect in 3d space while the robot is moving. Each time it passes more and more data will be filled in. The robot would allow a whole room to be mapped perfectly in 3d space.
While I get this going here is a video of the robot in action.
Hey, where is the 3D Map view!!! 😀
sweet, will you upload a 3D View?
Sure thing I’ll upload a view as soon as I get back to my desk tomorrow. Better yet ill probably just make a video.
